1. Your Energy and Its Vehicle

Creation is the continuous flow of energy. Energy is polar. Polarity is the dance of the One as two creating ever-new forms of existence. You are part of creation. You are energy. Your energy connects, binds, merges, separates, repels, creates, and destroys to bring forth new.

Within you, feminine/yin and masculine/yang energy combine. You carry both energies to various degrees. Note on the side: I’ll use feminine and yin and masculine and yang interchangeably in this post. The presence of yin and yang energy within you can be evenly proportioned, or one can be more pronounced. The two also activate at different times to various degrees in your life. Feminine and masculine energy are apart from sex. You can be born into a male body holding more feminine than masculine energy or vice versa, which is not uncommon.

Connecting, cooperating, together, being, allowing, introspective, receptive, cautiousSeparating, competition, alone, doing, controlling, expressive, assertive, impulsive

How you feel about your body and energy setup is, to a big part, defined by the culture you grew up and live in. Looking at the connection between your outer appearance and inner experience from the following perspective can deepen your understanding of your personal life and life on planet Earth in general.

Male and female bodies work differently. Bodily differences are part of the attraction that keeps the dance between the energies alive and interesting. Our physical vessels also participate in our spiritual development as they are tools through which we can understand the forces of life and creation.

Living in a biologically female body with its hormonal changes and menstrual cycle feels different from living in a biologically male body with its own hormonal setup and outcomes. Both are vehicles for exploring the earthly realm but operate through two different paths. Understanding doesn’t only come through your mind but also through being in a physical body. Your body is a bearer of wisdom animated through the energy setup within you. The intertwining of the outer, physical, visible part of you, and the non-physical, invisible energy within you is unique. You are one of a kind.

2. Circle of Unity

Everything begins with the One being separated into two, from which are birthed the many. You are one of many and yet unique. Your individuality is reflected in your astrological birth chart. Your birth chart is a two-dimensional graphic that displays the relationship between Earth, more precisely, your birthplace, and the position of the planets and other factors within the zodiac circle at the moment of your first breath. You are a vessel carrying the energies present when you were born. Watch my video, What’s an Astrological Birth Chart, to learn more.

Planetary rulership scheme based on the Thema Mundi. The zodiac consists of six feminine and six masculine signs. The “yin path” (purple) starts with the Moon. The “yang path” (red) starts from the Sun. Both trails lead to Saturn-ruled signs. We can also look at the two paths starting from Saturn and ending with the lights, Sun and Moon. The paths go in both directions.

Feminine and masculine energy is represented in astrology through the zodiac signs with their elements, planets, and planetary phases. The zodiac consists of twelve signs equal in size. Each sign spans over 30° of the 360° circle. Six signs represent feminine energy. The other six signs express masculine energy. The lights (the Moon and the Sun) are a pair and have dominion over one sign each. The Moon, ruling Cancer, is the primary representative of feminine energy, whereas the Sun, ruling Leo, is the primary representative of masculine energy. The five planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, rule over two signs each, one being feminine and the other masculine. Do you see the balance?

3. Shaking Up Harmony

Creation is energy in motion. If the zodiac represents energy in balance, then the moving planets around it are agents of change. Total balance means stagnation and, finally, eternal death. Creation happens when particles move.

You carry an energetic imprint reflected through the planetary positions at the moment of your birth. Your birth chart is a blueprint of the forces working through you and your life. As such, it also reflects how you attract and what you are attracted to.

4. Venus and the Five-Pointed Star

Your entire birth chart mirrors your energetic signature, which affects your social interactions. Relationship dynamics can be understood through various astrological techniques. Comparing the birth charts (by creating a synastry chart) of the individuals involved in a relationship is one of the basic procedures in relationship astrology. This technique can give you valuable insights into how well you get along with the people in your life, what you have in common, how you differ, and in what ways you support and possibly restrict each other.

Two different energy flows are operating in the formation of the Venus Star. Both represent forces at work in the cycle of creation and destruction, the cycle of life, that is.

The most insightful tool for understanding relationships and their dynamics I’ve discovered so far is the Venus Star, aka Venus Pentagram. This five-pointed star pattern is formed by alignments of our planet Earth with Venus and the Sun. The three factors involved in creating the Star represent the head-heart-body connection. It takes eight years for a Venus Star to form. The formation is endlessly in motion. The Venus Star symbolizes the continuous cycle of creation and destruction through birth, growth, decay, death, and rebirth.

The Venus Star in your birth chart, specifically its “head,” symbolizes the inborn gifts you are here to share with the world. The five points on the Star all have their own meaning and mirror the flow of creative energy in your life and through you. To make this blog post practical and the information easy to understand and use, I am focusing only on one part of the system, showing you how you quickly spot a significant energy setup in your birth chart and Venus Star and how it mirrors your relationship dynamics. There are a bunch of factors mixing with what you are about to figure out in a moment, altering and adding to the symbolism. So, please keep this in mind while reading on.

5. Push and Pull

Attraction (as well as dislike and repulsion!) can be felt for different reasons. Sometimes, like attracts like, and other times, opposites attract. Life is an interplay between tension and relaxation. By looking at your and any other person’s Venus Stars, you understand what is the case for the relationship you are in with that person – that can be a romantic or non-romantic, family, friend, or business relationship.

The “push and pull” sensation, tension, and friction increase with the energetic differences between you and others. The more alike you are, the smoother the ride. What we prefer depends on various factors and may change throughout our lives. Tension and harmony are also experienced differently. Some seek adventure and excitement, others keep themselves to predictability and serenity. Where the former can lead to a clash, the latter might create boredom.

6. Find Out Here

You need to know two things to pin down your core creative energy in your relationships. First, you need to figure out the zodiac sign of your Venus Star Point (VSP), the sign of the Venus-Sun conjunction before your birth representing the “head” of your Venus Star. Second, you need to know what phase Venus was in during that part of her cycle. For the sake of simplicity, we only look at Venus’ two main phases here, the morning star and the evening star phase.

Here’s a short video on my YouTube channel helping you quickly figure out your Venus Star Point sign and phase: Find Your Venus Star Point® — Two Quick Ways. All you need is your date of birth.

After you’ve figured out your Venus Star Point’s sign and phase, you look up which of the two energies, yin or yang, they represent. You can have a double yin, double yang, or a mixed energy signature. For example, if you were born during an Aries Morning Star Venus Star Point phase, you’d carry double yang energy. If you were born during an Aries Evening Star Venus Star Point phase, you’d carry a mixed yin/yang energy. An example of double yin energy would be the Capricorn Evening Star Venus Star Point.

What combination did you get? What energy signature doe(s) your partner(s) carry? By only looking at the sign and phase of your Venus Star Point, you can have one of the following six combinations in a two-person relationship: yin/yin–yin/yin, yin/yang–yin/yin, yin/yang–yin/yang, yang/yang–yin/yin, yang/yang–yang/yin, yang/yang–yang/yang.

Each feminine and masculine sign has its particular way of expressing itself, which depends on its element and modality (modes of operation), meaning that, for example, an Aries VSP (cardinal fire), a Leo VSP (fixed fire), Gemini VSP (mutable air), and an Aquarius VSP (fixed air) although all masculine signs differ from each other in the way they put out their masculine energy. The element and modality of your Venus Star Point sign alter the vibe of your creative energy and how you express it.

7. Three Dynamics

The Venus Star indicates three main types of relationship dynamics (called twin, creative, and karmic) based on how the signs are connected. This means that through the Venus Star, you can also identify where energy is coming from and where it is going, which gives you insight into who influences whom in a relationship. This feature of the Venus Star goes deep into reflecting your role in a given connection!

The more factors you take into consideration while studying your Venus Star and the Star of the people in your life, the more nuanced the message and insights you get about the dynamics at play. On top of the energy signature you carry from the moment of your first breath reflected in your birth chart, you can also see, through various techniques, how that energy unfolds throughout your life and relationships. You grow, and with you, your relationships evolve.

8. Experiences and Pain

The energy signature in your Venus Star might differ from the other energies in your birth chart. You might have a very yin-heavy chart, but your Venus Star Point and its phase might be yang. The ruler of your VSP might be a masculine planet in a masculine sign. On top of that, you might have a masculine planet in the same sign as your VSP. What does this say about you, your life, and your relationships?

At the beginning of this blog post, I mentioned that creation is energy, starting with the One divided into two dynamic opposites, which are constantly moving and creating new pairs of differing degrees of yin and yang polarity. We all carry “all energy” within us (every one of us has all twelve zodiac signs and all planets in their birth chart), but we differ in the degree and kind of expression of polarity we carry. This difference creates diversity, and through this diversity, we understand oneness.

The combination of planets, angles, and other factors in a birth chart creates a unique set of energy pairings. Some energies are more prominent than others in your chart. This can happen, for example, through signs occupied by planets or points of your Venus Star, which emphasizes that sign. I understand signs like energy fields. When you look at your chart, including your Venus Star, which energy fields are highlighted?

The art of living is acknowledging and coming to terms with your various energies and then finding meaningful ways to live them out, to create through them. The more your energy setup is “shaken up,” the more friction you might sense. If you often experience contradiction or uncertainty in what you feel, say, and do, looking closer at your astrological blueprint might open your understanding of where this feeling comes from. Besides noticing the tension between the energies within you, your signature might be at odds with the expectations around you.

Most of us are familiar with periods of self-doubt and confusion about life, its purpose, and relationships as a big part of it. The experiences we go through during our lifetime are a product of many factors. Astrology does not explain all your life, but it can give you valuable insights into its underlying mechanisms. I’ve found the Venus Star to be a powerful tool for providing understanding about and working on myself and my relationships. Insights alone do not change things, but they support decision-making.

I won’t hide the fact that, of course, as so often, knowledge can create pain. Getting a glimpse of what drives your relationships, facing your true desires, and the reality of what is and is not can be a painful awakening. But waking up means being alive and growing, right?! Growth is a good thing.

9. Ask Yourself

I’m leaving you with five questions to further your understanding of the dynamics working in your romantic relationships. Think of past and present ones. If your partner(s) is/are up for it, sit down together and talk about those questions.

  1. Did energetic sameness or difference draw you together? Do you carry the same or differing energy signatures?
  2. Is your attraction of physical, mental, or emotional nature? Which of the three connections feels strongest to you? How doe(s) your partner(s) feel about it?
  3. What do you think has influenced you most in pairing with the energetic setup your partner(s) represent(s)? Familiarity, comfort, fear, curiosity, rebellion, etc.?
  4. Do you see a pattern in your relationships? Do you pair with the same energy setup, i.e., always with people of yang/yang energy?
  5. Have you experienced an out-of-the-ordinary kind of connection with someone? What was their energy signature, and how does it compare to yours? What has this special bond taught you? How has it changed you?

I hope the information about how your Venus Star reflects a significant part of your energy signature and, therefore, a core factor in the dynamics you create with other people is helpful to you. I also hope you will use what you read here to improve your interactions with the people in your life. Remember that because we are all unique, we also naturally create unique bonds with each other.

May you find delightful and nurturing ways to channel and share your energy, and may your relationships prosper, whatever kind they might be!
